On March 23rd, 2021, Pierre Ja\u00efs and his team performed the world\u2019s first procedure using a CE Mark-approved PFA system on a patient with atrial fibrillation (AF).\u00a0 The procedure was performed in Bordeaux, France using technology from FARAPULSE, Inc. at the Bordeaux University Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/smartfire-component>\n\n<\/smartfire-component>\n\n<\/smartfire-component>\n\n<\/smartfire-component>\n\n<\/smartfire-component>\n\n\n

About FARAPULSE and PFA<\/strong>
Today, all forms of cardiac ablation to treat arrhythmias are thermal. While both radiofrequency and cryo-ablation have evolved, they nonetheless carry an inherent risk of indiscriminate thermal damage. Tissue-selective FARAPULSE PFA has emerged to be one of the most promising energy sources for cardiac ablation, including pulmonary vein isolation to treat Atrial Fibrillation.
