Prystowsky Lectureship Award, in recognition of his significant and unique achievements in clinical electrophysiology.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<smartfire-component name='spacer' attributes=\"{&quot;height&quot;:20,&quot;laptopHeight&quot;:20,&quot;tabletHeight&quot;:20,&quot;mobileHeight&quot;:20}\"><\/smartfire-component>\n\n\n<p>Professor Michel Ha\u00efssaguerre has pioneered the detection of the importance of pulmonary veins in the origins of atrial fibrillation, heart rhythm disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Together with his team, he was also the first to introduce the pulmonary vein isolation technique, which has become a fundamental part of current methods used worldwide to cure atrial fibrillation.
